Melvin Price Locks and Dam Rehabilitation

Advanced Concrete Sawing provided specialized concrete cutting services as part of rehabilitation efforts at the Melvin Price Locks and Dam, one of the largest lock facilities on the Mississippi River system and a critical component of the nation’s inland waterway infrastructure.

Working within an active U.S. Army Corps of Engineers navigation facility, ACS performed a variety of precision cutting operations to support major structural improvements throughout the lock complex. The project required extensive planning and coordination due to the critical nature of the facility and the complexity of the rehabilitation work.

ACS’s scope included cutting operations associated with miter gate machinery pit modifications, anchorage reconstruction, and other critical lock infrastructure improvements. To facilitate rehabilitation of the anchorage systems, ACS core drilled a series of precision holes and utilized wire sawing techniques to remove large reinforced concrete sections and create new recessed anchorage pits. Additional work included monolithic concrete separation cuts and specialty cutting operations required to support ongoing lock rehabilitation activities.

The combination of wire sawing, core drilling, and heavy civil concrete cutting made this a highly specialized project requiring precision execution and close coordination with the project team. Through these efforts, ACS helped support the long-term modernization of one of the Mississippi River’s most important navigation structures.
